Diana M. Bontá, RN, DrPH, serves as a national leader in public health issues and is a member of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Advisory Committee on Minority Health. She is also Vice President of Public Affairs for Kaiser Permanente Southern California, directing Kaiser Permanente’s public policy agenda and providing leadership for community benefit, corporate communications, and community, government, and media relations. Before joining Kaiser Permanente, Dr. Bontá served as Director of California’s Department of Health Services, and previously as the Director of Health and Human Services for the City of Long Beach. She is also a City of Los Angeles Board of Fire Commissioner and a Trustee of the Annie E. Casey Foundation, working to improve the lives of vulnerable children and families. Dr. Bontá was awarded the American Public Health Association’s Presidential Citation Award and the National Hispanic Medical Association Leadership Award, and has been honored by Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles County. Dr. Bontá received her doctorate and masters degrees in public health from the University of California Los Angeles, where she is an adjunct associate professor. She holds her bachelor’s degree in nursing from New York State University at Buffalo.
