Jury Candelario is the Director of Asian Pacific AIDS Intervention Team (APAIT), the largest provider of comprehensive HIV/AIDS services for Asian and Pacific Islander communities in Southern California. His decade long association with APAIT includes posts as Substance Use Coordinator, Mental Health Support Coordinator, and Associate Director of Capacity Building and Technical Assistance. He is a member of the National Minority AIDS Council and the American Public Health Association, and served as Chair of the API HIV Caucus of Los Angeles County from 2000-2004. Mr. Candelario is also involved in other advocacy and community mobilization efforts. He serves or has served as Treasurer of the California statewide Asian Pacific Islanders Community Action Network, Task Force member of the California state and LA County Viral Hepatitis Advisory Boards, President of the local Asian Pacific Policy and Planning Council (2004-2006), Co-Founder of the local Act Now Against Meth Coalition, and founding member of API Equality-LA where he is currently the Fundraising Co-Chair. He is the recipient of numerous local awards from the City of Los Angeles Mayor’s Office, the L.A. County Board of Supervisors, the City of Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce, and the Southern California Gay and Lesbian Medical Association.
