Sara Pol-Lim is the first Cambodian woman to serve as Executive Director of the United Cambodian Community (UCC) since its inception in 1977. Under her leadership, UCC has restored its reputation and financial integrity, and has helped to bring hope and dignity to a community that has suffered many losses. As a youth survivor of the Khmer Rouge killing fields, Ms. Pol-Lim lost her father, three brothers, and many other relatives. She came to the United States in 1983 with her mother. She worked her way up from ESL classes to a diploma from Gardena High School, an Associate in Science degree from El Camino College, a Bachelor in Business from National University and a Master of Science in Human Resources Management from Chapman University in 1996. Ms. Pol-Lim’s work experience includes six years at Orange County Public Services Agency and two years in the private sector as a Human Resources Generalist. She first joined UCC in 1998 as a Project Director. She then moved to outreach and education and cultural competency on behalf of Verizon universal lifeline, A3M, the Center for Health Care Rights and the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder, before rejoining UCC as Executive Director in 2007.
