As the Director of Communications at the Asian Law Caucus, Mariam manages the Caucus’ communications presence, with an emphasis on new media. Mariam uses strategic communications as a way to engage with audiences that are important to ALC and promotes ALC’s media presence as a way to further the organization’s mission. She also oversees the Caucus’ corporate fundraising program, which includes the annual dinner and national civil rights conference. Prior to joining ALC, Mariam was the Grants Manager and Donor Services Coordinator at PARSA Community Foundation, a philanthropic organization serving the Persian community and dedicated to promoting social entrepreneurship. Previously, Mariam was part of San Francisco State University’s Department of International Relations, teaching a course on foreign policy analysis. She has also assisted courses on Middle East policy at SFSU. Additionally, she is a regular contributor to NBC Bay Area. Mariam holds an M.A. and B.A. in International Relations from San Francisco State University, with a concentration in Middle Eastern affairs.
